I thought I'd share my views on what's in the various books for the interested buyer.

Psionics Toolkit: This is 55 pages, soft cover. It sticks pretty close to the original Psionics Handbook, not offering up anything "revised". Instead it offers ideas on integrating psionics into your campaign, several psionic NPCs, a couple of ok psionic related plot hooks, a handful of psionic monsters and 2 prestige classes. No new psionic feats or skills. The Prestige Classes were my favorite part as they were not prestige classes for Psionic characters, instead they were geared towards non-psionic characters who might want to take the leap into psionics. the Beastmaster had a good alternate spell progression for Rangers and the Psychic Thief let a Rogue use psionics to enhance his thieving skills.

Of Sound Mind: This is an adventure with a Psionic flavor. You'll be disapointed if you're looking for new Psionic toys. There are a couple psionic items and one artifact. Beyond that, there are some blues, a couple of animals with the psionic template and that's about it. It is however a very well written adventure.

Relics and Rituals 2: Like all of the Scarred Lands products, this baby is intrinsically tied to the Scarred Lands setting. This is both its biggest strength and weakness. As a weakness you're going to need to re-write the prestige classes to meld with your world. As a Strength, each prestige class and power is much more than just a set of nifty abilities.. they have a purpose that expands and enhances the history of the world.. Aka. Roleplaying. In the Scarred Lands, Psionics is the domain of the Slacerians, ancient foes of both the Gods and the Titans. Long thought banished, a mutation in the Slacerian Language Virus has started awakening Psionic potential in the people of this land. How cool is that? In terms of Balance, its not bad. I'd say their power level ranges around the area of the Arcane Archer and the Shadow Dancer.

The Quintessential Books: I'm just going to say I have both of them and I'm not too fond of them. Both have variants on the Psionic Combat system. Neither really improves on the old system although at least the Psychic Warrior version was somewhat innovative. What bothered me most was the ammount of variant rules. Not even the rehashing of the Psionic combat so much as introducing things that had no precedent anywhere. On top of that there was mutilation and canibalism as ways to increase your psionic potential. Stuff that seemed gratuitous really. In between, there were some ok generic Prestige Classes. "Finess Fighter", "Heavy Fighter", etc were just not evokative. The Psion ones were slightly better. Some decently balanced powers, and a handful of forgettable feats.

I feel the need to justify my complaints about the Quintessential books. In the end, they just weren't elegant. Part of the Reason I don't really care for the Pyro either. The Heavy fighter for instance has a number of class abilities that require both reserve power points AND a PP expenditure. Its as if they went out of their way to be obtuse.

Those are the ones I'm familiar with.. well, besides the Wizards and Malhavok ones. I'd probably recommend going to SSS (and its imprints) first over WotC even as their products have been nothing but top notch.
