In regards to 56, for the ability damage to be vile, the spell must actually do ABILITY DAMAGE. If it does the ability can be vile (but will go away if the spell says it will go away after so long.
But as far as Energy Drain and such? You do not take damage, just loose levels. It cannot be vile. "Hey Shippo. Your village called, they are missing their idiot."

" To keep from clogging up the thread, I actually started a new one on the issue of what effects can and can't be "vile", which seems to have been totally ignored (not that I mind, really, I just find it funny). 60. Is Dark Chanting a 'free action' for undead? Can they chant and still perform their activities, apart from verabl ones? Is it a supernatural ability.
61. What kind of action is 'Dark Speech' is it a standard action or a free action like a normal sentence during combat. 62. Does the 'Quiver of Lies' magic item produce an unlimited amount of arrows or only one? Would telling a lie constitute a command word action, or would it be a free action like a normal sentence can be? 63. Can 'Warp Touch' be undone with a Wish or Miracle after it has permanently altered a PC/NPC, Or is the effect more permanent? Is the alteration considered extraordinary or supernatural. 64. If a Fiend possessed weapon enters an anti-magic field, does the Fiend's enhancement still take affect, as it is not necessarily magical? I would personally assume that the Fiend's ability to enhance the weapon would be affected, seeing as it is a supernatural effect, so it would be stifled like a normal item. 65. If a Fiend possessed item OR Person had an 'Imprison Possessor' spell cast on them, and then entered an anti-magic field, would the Fiend then be able to escape, or would their power to leave also be suppressed, seeing as it is a supernatural ability to possess (I think). Lastly, I want to say that I think BoVD has been the most useful campaign supplement I have ever bought. Also, I think we have already got as much clarification and errata on this book as we coul have possibly gotten from WOTC in around 9 months. Thanks Monte! |

66) Vile Damage is supposed to violate the person's body and soul and can only be healed on consecrated or hallow spell area. Does that also apply to evil creatures hit by vile damage? From this, it would seem reasonable to say that evil creatures/pcs are not so violated by vile damage? Arturick: Yeah, I took everything unrealistic out of the game. 56. Enervation isn't really damage. Energy drain is. Boy, that would be nasty if you let that be vile.
57. Crap. They must have cut it. 35a. Yes. 58. Dispel magic wouldn't be enough. 59. If he was wearing plate armor and had a longsword, you would too (but you wouldn't get the magical benefits if there were any). Monte
