As far as I know they're the only source in the area for products not put out by WoTC or White Wolf / Sword & Sorcery. They also keep their dice selection very well stocked, something I didn't appreciate until I lived elsewhere. Haven't been there in ages, but I also used to enjoy Boardwalk & Park Place in Greenville, SC. They carried a wide variety of games, not just RPGs, and had the biggest GURPS selection I've seen in one place. Lastly I wanna put in a good word for Hobby Masters in Raleigh, NC. When other sources local and online were sold out and chain stores treated me as crazy for even asking if they had them yet, Hobby Masters managed to get me both a DMG and an FRCS.

Posts: 0 (04/02/02 11:16:11) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Although there are a number of gaming stores in the Atlanta area, I've found two that are head & shoulders above the rest: The Sword of the Phoenix (www.swordofthephoenix.com) and Colossal Games (www.colossalgames.com). The Sword of the Phoenix carries games of all types--roleplaying, miniatures, historical etc., while Colossal Games has more of an emphasis on miniatures games. Both do special orders as well.

John and Sarah are great people. They even know most of my gaming group by name even though we have no contact with them outside of shopping in their store. Great place, and Mike and his wife are lovely people; Larry is fun, too. They have just about everything you can imagine for d20 items. Now if only they had Reaper Minis, like Reaper says they do...

The staff games, knows the field, and will special order. Plus they discount DnD stuff from Wizards. They also have gaming space and allow food and drink. The bad news is, it's usually only available when the store is open, and during most of the year the store closes at 6 pm. The Wizards stores are also good places, but food and drink isn't allowed. The past few years a couple of other game stores have opened locally, but I have yet to check them out. Alan The Gaming Outpost

Don't mind browsing, and the owner, who is usually there, is a great guy. On thursdays they let people game there until midnight. And the layout is simple. You could be hit by a car. If you do, beware the mirrors. They hurt, and I know this from personal experience.

They have a store in Ames, IA and Des Moines, IA. They are the nicest bunch of people I've ever seen in a game store. It's clean, well-stocked, and the staff is knowledgeable. It's almost every gamer in central Iowa's dream to work there, and I got to do it. So, I have to send some love their way.

(www.spacecrime.com) A local independent, I've always gone there for gaming materials and fantasy-related novels, rather than the Barnes and Noble right down the street from me. Chris and Deb are good people, always have an informative tip about current and upcoming products, and will order just about anything for you with no hassles. Plus they provide gaming space and Otis the Cat. Boy, I'll miss Otis when I move back to Georgia.

It has a good supply of new games and an awesome selection of used games at fanatastic prices. If you get down that way...check it out...its on Bardstown RD.....just off of 264 East....

The best is definitely Friends' Hobby / Gamemaster's Guild of Waukegan. This store is way north, almost to the border of Wisconsin, but it blows away anything the city has to offer. (Please, prove me wrong!) Very messy, but they have everything in stock, I mean everything. Mini's, RPG's, CCG's, models, terrain, etc. Also, for a small membership fee, you get to use the 'back room' with huge tables and ongoing historical, fantasy, and sci-fi campaigns. website at www.friendshobby.com/ the owner, Robert, is very Weird-Pete-ish, but knows his stuff. -fen

Here's what I've managed to find here so far: The Comicshop (www3.bc.sympatico.ca/comicshop/ ), in Vancouver, has a good selection of gaming materials, and a very active in-store gaming group (focused more on mini games than on RPGs, though). Imperial Hobbies (www.imphobbies.com ), in Richmond (just south of Vancouver), has an AMAZING selection of gaming materials, including more minis than I've ever seen in one store. (The Reaper minis are sorted by number...ah, heaven!) Chartam Plicatus

I used to just stand in the middle of the store and drool when I was stationed up there. They have EVERYTHING, and lots and lots of gaming groups. Not only does my comic store, Command D, order game material that I would like (despite not really carrying RPG material), but one town over in Chelmsford is Three Trolls Gaming. They have a solid selection of RPGs, as well as an impressive selection of games and puzzles of all categories. Then, up the road in Nashua are three, count them, three different game stores, one of which has two locations. The Comic Store not only carries gaming material and comics, but a really great toy and anime section as well. Then there's the Wizard's Tower and the Name of the Game. All in all, I'm definitely sitting pretty. Don Walsh
