Posts: 889 Sep 14 06 1:09 PM The Wandering Smith Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None Hi all, I figured to set up an obituaries thread for all Ptolus PC deaths that we DM's in some way or another initiated. I thought it cool to read the obituaries before going on to read the rest of the forum. I got the idea when reading Tarondor's first PC death and the template idea from the AoW's thread on Paizo. Here is a template to record a PC Death. Character Name: Level Race Class: Adventure: Location of Death: Catalyst: Brief Description: *Catalyst to mean something like, "Failed Save", "Failed Balance Check by 10" or "Critical Hit". EDIT: If this thread is a hit with the community and has long standing, maybe we could convince the moderators to sticky it, so that DM's don't have to go looking for it. __________________ I own the Tome of Ptolus: 1A2S-063103-060808-N-W-489/1000-MX

"> Character Name: Sa Qebah Level Race Class: Rogue 5/Assassin 5 Adventure: Seven Spires End Game Location of Death: Main Seal of the Inverted Pyramid (actual physical underground pyramid - see End Game for details). Catalyst: Only the sacrifice of a being of good could seal the pyramid again. Sa Qebah commited suicide to prevent this major event. The death of the Bonelord and this supernatural sealing of the pyramid modified the fabric of the Seven Spires. When the Spellwardens emerged from the Underworld, they found themselves in Ptolus, on Praemal. Sa Qebah is now buried in the Necropolis. Brief Description: Sa Qebah was a frail yet very energic young woman with pale skin, dark eyes and dark blue hair barely reaching her shoulders. Since I had something peripheral to do with starting this: Character Name: Ansrahel Level Race Class: 2nd level shoal elf Hawk Totem Warrior Adventure: The Murderer's Trail Location of Death: Toridan Cran's, Nar Street, Midtown Catalyst: The PC's were investigating who put out the contract to kill Phon Quartermail. Brief Description: The party akashic scouted Cran's alone, blew his Sneak check and was found out by Collus Adderwood, Cran's wizard friend. Collus charmed the akashic into telling the party that the house was empty and safe. They entered somewhat nonchalantly. Ansrahel had the bad luck to be the first through the front door when Toridan Cran was hiding right behind it. Cran went high in the initiative and the GM rolled a "20" to hit and a "20" to confirm the critical. Ansrahel was killed instantly before he'd even entered the house. The surviving PC's did carry the day. Flat now available in Emerald Hill...

Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Character Name: Trevor Smith Level Race Class: HUman Male 2 Fighter/2 Barbarian Adventure:Night of Disolution Location of Death: The first bridge inside the Pythones House with the ratlings Catalyst: The Ratbrute did him in when the cleric decided to cast divine weapon instead of healing. Brief Description: Trevor was a former censes worker that just got fed up with his job/life. One day hes snapped and left- It all, his job, his wife, his house. He wondered around town for a bit to he came upon the delvers square. He knew what he wanted to do. Little did he know that this new life would be his demise.

Catalyst: Slain by Sea Devils when the party interrupted their looting of the Arrowhead. Brief Description: The party drank their potions of Water Breathing and sank to the bottom of the harbor to retrieve the body of Linech's Crans daughter. A fight ensued with the sahuagin and their shark allies. Although Naegra fought bravely, he died on the tridents of the sahuagin

Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Character Name:Boye Blackfingers Level Race Class: Rogue 1/Artificer 1 Adventure: Smuggler's Daughter Location of Death: In the Bay Catalyst: Critical hit from a Trident wielding Saughin Brief Description: Boye and his fellows were searching for a coffin in a wrecked ship when a group of sharks and saughin attacked. They avoided the Ranger, Monk, Paladin, and Sorcerer and went for the little low HP Artificer. Needless to say without his trusty rifle (he was wielding a bayonet) he died easily.

But in the way they ran across an albino ratbrute with arcane training that kicked Ralkatos' ass, putting him below 0. Brief Description: The party of four drew the attention of Angash by firing a Dragon Pistol at the two gnoll guards guarding the secret door to the sewers. Angash came out swinging, and the rogue thought it was a good idea to go toe to toe with him. Splat!!

Location of Death: The Apartment that was over run with Venom-Shaped Thralls. Catalyst: Running off by himself Brief Description: Ambushed by a Venom Shaped Thrall and Uranik Storn. Reglin charged up into the second level, leaving the rest of the party behind. He ran into a room and found himself surrounded by Uranik Stron, cleric of the Brotherhood of Venom and a Venom Shaped Thrall. He tried fighting but was knocked into the negatives. Gregor, one of Reglin's adventuring companions, arrived just in time to see Uranik bury his morningstar into Reglin's head as he lay prone on the floor in a pool of blood. Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Character Name: Kanine Level Race Class: Sibeccai Totemist 4 Adventure: Temple of the Ebon Hand Location of Death: Temple of the Ebon Hand Catalyst: Hold Person, and Coup de Grace x2 Brief Description: The group split up, everyone but Kanine ran headfirst though the sewers to track the ebon hand cultists who kidnapped Sir Cenwahl(a rogue posing as a knight)'s sister from an orphanage. Kanine decided to try a little research and go in through the main entrance of the temple to check it out first. A few wrong words, a hold person scroll (along with bad saves), and two separate coup de grace's later, kanine was very dead. (from a single level 2 cleric). Kanine's brother eventually got to the top of the temple and beat the cleric who killed Kanine to somewhere around -500 hitpoints... The whole adventure was pretty close to a disaster (but at the same time very dramatic), as the rest of the group was following, without question, a wisdom 5 revenge crazed knight wannabe.

Catalyst: Loss of half of his constitution from the poisonous bite of a fiendish viper and the suffering the full effect of a lighting bolt from Ibulli. Naegra, already severally weakened from the poison of a summoned fiendish viper, moved up the stairs along with two other party members to confront the still unknown menace in the upper floor the buried tower. Ibulli, the sorcerer aranea, unleashed a lightning bolt from the rafters, striking all three characters. Naegra suffered the full effect of the lightning and was killed instantly. Character Name: Gregor Level/Class: 6th Level Fighter/ranger Race: Litorian Adventure: NoD--Temple of Deep Chaos Location: The Sanctuary Catalyst: Slain in combat with Astared, the half fiend centaur. The party had just finished off slaying the chaos beast (which had been unleashed on the party by Nirech-thes, Astareds Babau ally), when Astared and two Babaus teleported into the Sanctuary to confront the party. Zylka, already struggling to keep herself from turning into a pile of goo after being struck by the chaos beast, stumbled to attack this new threat. She walked right into Astareds threat range and was impaled on his spear. She died instantly. Seeing his closest friend die, Gregor attacked Astared. Although Gregor was stuck by Astared when he moved to engage, he did strike a might blow against the half fiend centaur. Enraged, Astared unleashed his full furry on Gregor. Gregor, already wounded from an earlier attack by Astared, died upon Astareds spear. I have a cunning plan my lord...

He suffered a critical hit too; of course, my character didn't lose any sleep over the loss.
