For six years, this community has flourished, becoming (and remaining) one of the largest--and more importantly friendliest and coolest--rpg related communities online. Among the things that I've done in my career as an rpg author and game designer, forming this community and being a part of it is one of the real high points.
As most of you know, however, my attention is being dragged away from Malhavoc Press and game design in general. There are interesting things on the horizon, but they're taking a lot of my time and energy.
So, starting today, there's a slight change in the way these forums are going to be run. Basically, I'm going to step down as the administrator. I'm extraordinarily happy to report, however, that taking my place will be none other than our own Thrommel, also known by a few people as Tom Lommel. Tom's been a moderator here for well, as long as there have been moderators here, and truth be told, he's been a sort of "silent co-admin" for the past few months helping me run things.
So what does this change mean? In actual fact, not a lot. I'll still be a member here and likely visit and post many times a week (just exactly like I have been doing all along). The forum policies will stay basically the same. The focus will remain role-playing games and various related things, just like always. Tom's got some fun ideas for some potential forum rearranging and maybe some new forums, but no drastic changes. He's also open to the ideas of other members.
It also means that these forums won't be tied as closely to Malhavoc Press as they have been. Given the genesis of these forums, and the fact that I'll still be a board regular, I imagine it will always contain news and discussion of my professional work, past and present, but it's also an opportunity for this community to move in new directions if that's desired. In other words, these aren't my boards anymore--they're yours.
I've nothing but faith in Tom and in the rest of you (all 10,000+ of you) that these boards will continue to be some of the best places to hang out on the web. Thanks to everyone for making this such a community.
