So as some of you know, I've been doing a multi-part deconstruction of the most infamous of bad RPGs. Some weeks I get through an entire chapter, other times I'm lucky to clear a half-dozen pages, and on a few occasions, I've spent an entire post on a single sentence.
It's finally winding down; I've finished the last "official" chapter in the book (though that post won't go live for another week) and I'm looking at maybe four or five more posts after that, maybe as many as seven with meta-commentary. Once I'm done, I am going to revise a few old posts, clean up some errors and odds & ends, and build an index page, but after that, what next?
I like blogging about beer, but I also like blogging about games. Deconstructing the worst RPG ever self-published has been a hoot, not only for the snark but also to talk about what makes games interesting and fun, about why we can accept flying dragons but not ability modifiers for BMI, and a lot of other neat topics.
I'm wondering what to do next. Are there other RPGs are out there that deserve this kind of treatment? (snark and game theory in equal measure, with a few dick-and-fart jokes on the side) Part of me would love to look at the World of Synabarr, just for the "Midnight Sunstone Bazooka", but I know it's out of print. I know any RPG I look at will be less of a task than the 1000+ pages of F.A.T.A.L.
I'm asking for suggestions not only on what to tackle next, but if it's obscure or out of print, also the best ways to find it. It'll be a month or two before I'll be completely done with F.A.T.A.L. (I have two "setting books", plus the software and "theme music" that deserve a mention) so that's enough time for me to shop Ebay or other sources for material.
