So I'm still working through upgrades and ideas for my character's flying ship.
I'm thinking about ways to make the ship safer for the NPC crew, and a few of these ideas would work well as Wounderous Lair Items, but I don't have a clue how to price them.
Protective Guardian Statue (Concept 1)
This would be the Ship's Figure Head in my case.
This life sized statue of a humanoid must be attached to a structure to function. The item has a single neck slot allowing any magic neck slot item, like a necklace or cloak, can be places on the figure. Any magical properties of that item are conferred upon any creature within 1 square of the structure it is attached to.
Example: A +2 amulet providing 5 points of Cold Resistance is places on a Protective Guardian Statue of a Dwarven Fortress. Any creature within 1 square of the Fortress, including those inside it or on it's battlements... or climbing it's battlements, or an enemy dragon landing on the battlements, gains Resist 5 Cold, but no other features of the amulet (like the enhancement bonus to defenses).
Notes:
I'm hoping the restriction to just neck slot item's properties will keep this from being too abusive. It also has the advantage and disadvantage of making it easy to change or remove the item.
Also, is the system of being within 1 square of the structure valid, or should this be designed as within X squares of the statue? As a room up to X squares? I'm not so sure of how Lair Items are designed.
Protective Guardian Statue (Concept 2)
This would, still, be intended as a Ship's Figure Head.
This life sized statue of a Humanoid must be attached to a structure to function. The statue provides the creatures within 1 square of the structure with Resist 5 to Fire, Cold, Lightning, Acid, Thunder, Psychic, Necrotic, Radiant, Force, or Poison damage. Anyone adjacent to the statue may change the energy type resisted as a Minor Action.
Notes: Is the energy type list too inclusive? Is it too easy to change?
Thingamajig of Safe Falling
I'm not sure what this item should look like.
Anyone falling more than 5 squares from a surface of the structure this Thingamajig is attached to may choose to immediately teleport to a teleport to a location within that structure set when the Thingamajig was installed. The take no falling damage and land on their feet. (Similar to Feyleaf Sandals)
Notes: Aside from the same standard structure limiting questions, does this item work ok? Should it be restricted to a teleportation circle on the same plane set when the item was made? Or to a teleportation circle withing the structure? To a square adjacent to the Thingamajig? Maybe the Thingamajig itself it it's a net, bed, or other reasonable object to "land" in.
