Monte wanted Star Wars. I wanted Star Trek. At least you eventually got your game, Monte! (Yeah, yeah, there were Star Trek RPG's, I know). That said, I loved Traveller and still do. I was never a big fan of their mechanics or of the community of gearheads that wanted incredibly complex rules for designing a starship (I'm looking at you, Fire, Fusion and Steel!), but I loved playing Traveller second only to D&D.
Ironically, the best of the RPG's based on one of the Star franchises was "Stargate SG-1".
