Ok, I've been running a Ptolus game for a while and just shifted the party to my long anticipated running of the Banewarrens, but the opening events of the
modules have me thrown for a slight quandry.
One of my PC's died in our last session and he came in with a gun toting LN cleric of the iron god (technology). Anyway, during the opening, the drow sparked off his series of chaotic events and on the first exchange, the flaming half-orc came out looking for help, but was setting those who he approached or those who came to him for help on fire, (including the cleric who attempted to help). After several rounds of observing this, the cleric cast hold person on the individual, and promptly pulled out his gun and killed the burning man. (I allowed a CdG with a shot to the head).
I know the module says that the pcs get full exp for "defeating" these events regardless of their method, but I still am having some questions on how I should approach this action that was taken by the cleric.
I don't necessarily want to pull out a hammer and swat him, however I feel that his execution of a individual who may or may not have been innocent (the cleric and the rest of the party wasn't sure at first) may not really be appropriate of a LN deity or his devoted follower.
I'm not sure if I should let this slide, as I honestly don't feel this is behavior befitting a lawful cleric. I'm torn, as I want the players to have fun and am usually not an alignment nazi, but certain actions such as killing an individual who is helpless, and was previously asking for help, even if you did get burned while trying to help seems like its a stretch.
