Any ideas for revenge when the PCs have broken into the Vladaam mansion to retrieve the key, but don't stop there and go on to clean out the strongroom.
Has this happened to anyone else ? And how did you handle it ?
Thanks,
Martin.

What will the Vladaams do if the party rob them blind? |

I would imagine that the strongroom is NOT their sole source of cash.
Which means whatever they can't do themselves - they can hire others to do for them. Start with divinations to find out who performed the deeds, and if you're REALLY nice a visit from a loyal V representative to explain, politely, that the party can a) return all stolen goods with a steep penalty or b) consider themselves permanently hired servants who have already received their pay in advance & will now be called upon to perform services for the house or c) they take up the matter with the Vai assassins who have been hired to kill them. That's the direct, give them an out approach. Otherwise the family might: Hire the Vai to kill them. Ask the Balcazars to get involved retrieve their goods/smack the players around. Place a public bounty on them, as a Noble House they no doubt have pull with the courts. Hire others to steal from the players & start interfering on a political level. Imagine you've pissed off a very rich corrupt businessman - a man who might own, or have influence over vast holdings, and who has friends who will exchange favors with him. The players might find they're no longer welcome at the inn they've been staying at - the house they've rented might suddenly burn down - or they find they are evicted. Worse and know associates start having problems - siblings kicked out of their homes, friends get beaten up, shopkeepers threatened if they are seen to do business with the party. I'd guess nothing would be "linked" to them, but word might get around fast that the party has some powerful enemies. It's actually the best hook for a city campaign - you can play it out for ages, just so long as you don't hit them with a full-on street brawl or 14th level assassins ambushing them the next day. Make the V's WORK to get info on the PC's have them make saves vs scrying spells etc, have rumors hit the streets, have fences get really scared at buying known "Vladaam treasures" - or better yet have one of the people they sell stuff do "disappear" a few days later, then have his horribly mutilated corpse appear Dockside, have it make the broadsheets. Hint at nasty "Book of Vile Darkness" magics being used to torture the victim. Ohhh - Have Imps/Quasits/minor devils/demons come as representatives of the Vladaams. heh. Scare the crap out of them. Do the Vladaam's know who robbed them? I'm guessing she didn't accompany the "heroes."
It doesn't seem to me like anyone actually could break in and rob them blind, without inside help. Hva'
fanden? Får vi en orkan?
