Ok just one to start off, but I thought I would make it a broad stroke so if there are others it can be better contained. So I'm a demon, I get thrown off
a cliff, I can change my shape (it's super cool) Now the DM states that the rules state I can't fly, I'm not sure about that as most of what I read
stated that I had to be kinda humanoid, but my question is if I can't fly can I at least glide? Could there be a flying skill involved? As well a mer man
would almost assuradly move faster in water... I know, it turns into a serious headach when you start throwing all that out there, but you sort of built that
nightmare.

Im no rules lawyer, or an expert, but I think gliding is a class of flying. I haven't seen a flying skill...but I wasn't looking.

The shapechange ability specifies that changes are only cosmetic and do not confer any special powers of the chosen form. The example given is changing into
Dracula and not gaining vampire powers but you can read it that alternate modes of movement (flying/gliding, swimming, climbing) are also not given.

I understand that but it also states that little green men is a humanoid form. So the exotic is well within the parameters. As that looks to be true, how
about webbed feet and hands? Frogman ala scooby doo looks to be about the same outside shot as a little green man, but the webbing would definitely allow a
better manueverability in the water. Meh it doesn't matter all that much, it depends on what your DM considers cosmetic I would guess, I'm not really
sure why a demon is even restricted by that, seems a bit arbitrary since he's really just a walking, talking vat of staypuff marshmallow creme or whatever.

Are you asking about MCWOD?

Yes I am, I may have things wrong we may be bringing things into the game from other games, we might just as people have sniffed a little to much glue.
But thanks for answering any questions you feel relavent. |

It's easier if you just assume the form is humanoid and that the change doesn't provide any additional benefits. Now, if you wanted their shapechanging
to have additional benefits by learning a feat or cant....

Ooooh, oooh, I have a question!
what's the difference between them in this game an in previous games? I didn't know there *was* a demon game (well, I'd heard, but I'm more familiar with the name Wraith than Demon). I noticed the Vampire concept change was significant (ghosts. weird, and not my thing, but a good re-thinking of the concept at least, fwiw). Is it that significant for these guys? And would it be possible to do an Angel using them? Like, based on heals and buffs for party members. Also: what about class changes, to other d20 classes? For Demons, and for other PCs, would I treat them as level 4 or level 1, for ECL questions? |

I only skimmed WW's demon book for ideas about powers and such, as the demons in MCWOD aren't fallen angels, they're... weird. I don't know
what you mean by "is that significant," but you probably wouldn't get more insight into MCWOD demons by reading other WW demon books.
I suppose you could do "angels" using the basic demon info, though you'd have to tweak it a lot. When using materials from other sources, always look to the MCWOD character's hit dice to determine their level. |
