Tonight is the last or second to last session of playtesting Pathfinder in a pirate setting. I've tried the ranger (which was pretty fun) but am
especially impressed with the new sorcerer.

Bustin' my buns to wrap up all my work stuff today, since I'm taking tomorrow off. Me 'n Mrs. UTM throw a big Memorial Day bash every year, and
I'll spend a good chunk of tomorrow getting the homestead ready for a massive influx of partygoers. Saturday = lots of grilled meat and alcoholic
beverages. Sunday = Hung-over Game Day. I'll cook a big breakfast for anyone who spent the night, and we'll waste the entire day playing obscure board
and card games. (I expect we'll probably see Iron Dragon, Carcassonne, Bang!, Hex Hex and Puerto Rico again this year.) I actually look
forward to Sunday just as much as Saturday...
I probably won't do any gaming until a week from Sunday, when we'll pick up the RttToEE campaign again. |

I'm helping one of my employees finish up a catalog so that I can actually start working on my own project due by the end of June. I also have a ton of
ENnies stuff to track right now, in addition to the 3 adventures I'm running at Gen Con which need writing and play-testing.
My bi-weekly D&D game is Friday night, and I still have game prep to do for that and my girlfriend's birthday is Saturday, but all I have to do for that is show up and take her (and her daughter) out to dinner that night (we're going to The Melting Pot). Aside from that, it looks like it's going to be a fairly low-key weekend.

Had lunch with a buddy. Now back to work where I have plenty to do, but nothing painfully pressing, which I like. Tonight will be mowing and work in the garden
and probably watching some stuff on the DVR.
Looking forward to a 4 day weekend, including finally seeing Star Trek with another couple, some Deadlands Sunday night, and basically being home with my wife. |

Setting up a physical with my doctor and a cleaning with my dentist. My pharmacy school requires a physical and a drug screening. And I will lose my dental
coverage when I go from full-time to really, really part time during classes.

Learning that designing a bridge for the state DOT has less to do with engineering knowhow and more to do with pushing the right pieces of paper around.
And getting ready to introduce Talisman to my kids this weekend since I only have two more minis left to paint. The Sorceress and the Priest. I have to add a little purple the minstrel, but there you go.

I'm wasting time playing Star Pirates and relaxing after a fun bike ride and a not so fun shower. Well, the shower was fine. The snapping the cold water
knob off was not so much fun.
Now NEXT weekend's project (it needed replaced anyway) became this weekend's project. Oh, and am also pondering how to tie all the plot lines of my campaign together as the PCs get higher level. The issues of the bad guys working together now are fine, but as things get closer to the "climax" they would be at cross purposes. (Also, since the party is only level 6, I have plenty of time to figure this out..... ) -8 modifier to crunch-fu |

Today's Ascencion here in DK, so I've had the day off. Actually it was yesterday, because it's now a quater to one in the am. Tomorrow, I've
taken the day off, but there's been a bit of preparation today, so I've cooked some - coq au vin. Before that, the girlfriend, Vibeke and myself went
out for a day trip.
I should have been writing job applications or at the very least prepped for my Sunday game or the session I'll be running next weekend for some kids. But, well... I suppose I'm distracted a bit. :-) What are you up to, Monte? |

Almost done housesitting for my in-laws; I've been away from my wife for too long, and they'll be back from their tour of Europe tomorrow.
Trying to come up with some good content for two firesides in the IH PbP game I play in while the DM is incommunicado in China. Excited because it's just now hitting home that our CEO put me and Alex (basically, the Web and Advertising departments) in complete control of one of our company's big projects, because he was unhappy with the direction that Development was taking it in. I spent six hours in a meeting today livecoding while Alex wielded her Photoshop skills for me, and I'll do the same tomorrow. We're getting some exciting results! It's honesty silly how much you can get done when you don't bind yourself with excessive process. Just got back from taking my dad out to dinner for his birthday, then we wandered around Borders and I spent all the money I was going to use on Magic cards on books instead. No big loss, I suppose. ^_^ I'm very happy that I found Hero of Ages in paperback! This weekend, when I get back home, I'll start packing up everything we own into boxes. Only three weeks until we move into our first home! Woo! I'm also being excessively happy that I'm now fully gradumacated and won't have to go to school any more. Suck it, bachelor's degree! I was slightly concerned about my grades this final semester, but one of my professors came by while we were lining up to head out to the stadium and assured me that I'd passed. ^_^ Also, Monday is Memorial Day, which means barbecue, beer, and D&D with friends.
Imagine the culture we would live in now if, instead of a dead corpse on an instrument of torture, our signifier was a child staring in wonder at the
stars.

Work, work, work. We're in a big push to get our part of the OS done for the next (Mac) release. Working so much is making me appreciate my time with Anne
and the kids more than ever, so that's kind of a nice side effect. And the point where things slow down again a bit is in sight, so that's nice.
I'm excited about our next AE game which is going to be an extra long session, but is almost a month away. Hopefully that will give me time to prepare the heart of the forest maze where a powerful mind witch medusa and her goblin thugs have taken over a ruined city... Yes, Monte, it's your turn! |

I am getting ready to take my son to school.
While he is at school I will be cleaning the house and taking breaks to write for a LARP. I forgot the horror where your NPCs are only slightly more under control then your PCs. Or trying to write for about 10 times as many PCs as I am used to having sit around my table (which gives me amusing mental images of 60 plus people sitting around a gaming table..). I think I will stop at Wawa for coffee on the way back home from school (there is a Wawa on the way, even if it isn't my Wawa). I am excited about the 3.5 game I am in as we think of cheap and interesting things to do with the Craft Spell Contingency feat. ("If feeblemind is cast at me, immediately cast mirror image.") I think that works...

I've been reading a lot. I just finished Confessions of an Alien Hunter, by Seth
Shostak, an in-depth examination of the issues surrounding the SETI project. Well written and interesting. Worth a read, especially is you enjoy Phil Plait
(Bad Astronomy) or Neil deGrass Tyson.
I also recently read Sunk Without a Sound, by Brad Dimock, about the disappearance of Glen and Bessie Hyde on the Grand Canyon in 1928. It's one of the mysteries of the Southwest. The couple were honeymooning in late fall of 1928 by rafting the Colorado in a scow type boat. They made it at least as far as Diamond Creek. Their boat was found, up-right and fully loaded, about 20 miles downstream, but no trace of the couple were ever found. Glen's father spent months over the next two years searching for his son and daughter-in-law, but come up empty. The writer, a professional boatman, does a great job of researching the backstory and the rafting issues. He examines all the explanations put for over the years, and offers a pretty convincing closing argument. Recommended for anyone who enjoys Krakauer's books or the American Southwest. This was very much a wonderful surprise, offering a much better and more interesting read than I was expecting. Plus, lots of domestic type chores. Getting ready for my daughters to be out of school for the summer and planning our summer adventures (a family trip to Monterey, CA; a camping trip in the Sierras with my older daughter; a weekend with the wife in Vegas [Penn and Teller for me, Cirque de Sole for her]; Backpacking in Yosemite with my mother and uncle; running the San Francisco Half Marathon; and climbing Longs Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park with a friend. And swimming. Lots and lots of swimming.)
