I didnt like how HP were distributed, I didnt like the craft system, and after a while I started to get extremelly angry at the fact that in epic levels the d20 system is as flawed as a raw stone.
So all the talk of epicness and balance really attraced me, things like doing away with the vancian (is that spelled right?) seemed ok because in my eyes it would be a major overhaul that would do the game major good.
Well ... In some sense it did.
The game now is very straight foward and fast paced, rounds blaze as the battle increases in number of rounds.
But after playing 3 attempts at campaigns by my 3.5 group, we all started feeling the same.
Even tho the power system is somewhat balanced (sometimes missing a daily is the most significant thing your character will do in the whole combat), and the magic items have been greatly scaled down (what seemed good to me at first), it felt more and more like I was this carbon copy character, that had this carbon copy playstile, and after a while, we felt increasingly optionless until using that your most visually appealling/powerfull power combo with AP and etc.. isnt fun anymore.
It just doesnt cut it, many manouvers were left as powers and the limitations of doing a trip and such are really frustrating, now it feels more like a combat game than a roleplaying game
So after buying almost 10 books of 4e we decided to give something else a shot.
And after lots of lobbying from a friend, im now playing GURPS!!! and finding it really cool and interesting (its a huge turn from D&D but I was ready for it)
Now, honestly, it just seems like a decent system like lots of them over there, a sucessfull one too, do you guys know any character conversor from D&D to gurps (can be vague and any version of D&D)
Thanks in advance, your Bastard sword D10
