Does anyone know if there's an official ruling on this? Leadership states, "Regardless of a character's Leadership score, he can only recruit a
cohort who is two or more levels lower than himself." What if the Leader has a level adjustment? Say, for
example, someone who is level 6, LA+2. He's ECL 8. His charisma+level is such that he could attract a level 6 cohort [to be specific, someone who has six
class levels and no level adjustment]. Could he, in fact, attract a cohort of the "same level" [they both have six class levels], since the Leader
has two more effective character levels than the cohort?
I would think yes, but I could see people arguing otherwise. I guess it all depends, from a straight rules perspective, if there's a clear definition of "level" in the context bolded above. Does level-sans-adjective always mean effective level?
EDIT: Doh! Related question. Your "Leadership score equals [your] level plus any Charisma modifier": same thing, is this your total class levels or your effective character level?
