Before I begin, I have to thank all of you for this incredible forum. I've been DMing for over 25 years, but I've read things in these threads that are pure role-playing gold, and far beyond anything I've ever put my players through... yet.
A short intro - my group is entirely made up of new gamers; the one with the most experience has only been playing for a couple of years, and they've been at my table. The rest of them are relative n00bs, but the youngest person at the table is about 23 or so. Right now they're about two-thirds of the way through our introductory adventure - they just made it to 3rd level at the last game session, and they'll just barely make 4th level by the time the adventure ends.
[evil grin]At which point I'm railroading them straight into Hommlet.[/evil grin]
This will be my second attempt at running RttToEE. The first game went well until life got in the way and the group broke up; they got about halfway through the CRM when it fell apart. I've been champing at the bit to run a party all the way through this monstrosity, and it looks like I'm finally going to get my chance.
My campaign world is a much-modified version of the Forgotten Realms; Hommlet is in what's left of Battledale, and the Temple of All-Consumption is deep in the Thunder Peaks. I like the idea of making Thrommel a prince of Cormyr - in my game the Forest Kingdom is currently ruled by a regent (due to the lack of an heir), and this would fit in very nicely. I'll have to modify Jolene a bit; it's been about 100 years since Zuggtmoy was destroyed in the original ToEE. I wonder how Jolene would feel about being an elf??
