When I first saw the feats section in MCWoD, I noticed that there were a fair amount of feats missing from other d20 material that seemed like it would be
applicable and appropriate. I originally chalked it up to the notion that the authors of MCWoD wanted to spend more pages on original material, instead of
rehashing OGL d20 feats, and I was cool with that.
That being said, I'm designing my first character (a vampire) and now I'm not so sure that it was simple omission. I'm wondering if it was for balance reasons.
I don't like the fact that all characters are automatically proficient in wielding knives, spears, swords and other melee weapons, so I thought I would take the "simple weapon proficiency" feat from d20 Modern. Then, I got it into my head to just go ahead and use all the feats from d20 Modern, at least where appropriate.
However, upon further analysis, it seems like it's going to take my character forever to get the feats he's going after, such as armor proficiency (of which there are three tiers, in d20 Modern). D20 Modern characters get the same amount of basic feats, but they also get a good amount of bonus feats as well, which helps tremendously.
I was wondering, is importing even the basic feats from d20 not recommended? Things like "Improved Grapple" or "Streetfighting"? Were some feats simple omissions, or were they purposely left out to avoid catastrophic results?
