Yes, I remember seeing that list somewhere, but after searching my archives for 20 minutes, I can't find anything.

I think the party is expected to start the adventure at 4th level, so that's where they should be for the Moathouse.

Figure 5th level for Nulb and the Ruined Temple.

By the time they arrive at the ToAC, they should be 6th level or close to it. My group was a mixed 5th/6th group of 5 PCs and they almost had a TPK going in the Main Entrance, even though they scouted it out for a couple days. What hurt them was the number of mooks inside.

They were 8th level by the time they hit the Fire Temple, IIRC.

By 9th level, there were 6 PCs and they went after the Outer Fane via the Fire Door. It took them awhile, but they did take out Chymon. (But I gave Naquent an appropriate gem and she brought the dragon back as an undead. )

My group was a 10th/11th mix when they hit the Inner Fane. I think they were all 11th by the time they hit Level 9, but through a strange twist of fate, I had Hedrack and The Second waiting for them (that's a long story; Hedrack wouldn't normally be in the IF). They were almost wiped out, with the (now blind) meatshield being plane shift'd away and a mage hit by slay living. The party rogue who was left gagged and bound on Level 8 was also killed (another long story).

My group has been on hiatus since then, so I don't have levels for the rest of the module. I would say they should hit the Recovered Temple at 12th and are expected to finish the module at 14th or so.

Siobharek has been here forever, so I have to yield to his memory of events. However, we had no such problem IMC.

We started with 5 PCs at 4th level in Hommlet. The PCs were mid-5th level going into the main entrance of the CRM and 3 died during that assault. In all of the encounters I remember, the party outmatched their opponents in most cases, although the trolls and D'Gran were a good fight, as was the bebilith (they ran away from that one when the paladin's armor malfunctioned ).


Throughout most of the CRM I felt the party had too easy of a time with most of it. I did restock a little bit if the party left and came back, but after restocking about a third of the CRM, I decided it didn't make sense to continue doing that. (I was playing under the idea that Hedrack expected the CRM to be cleared because their souls "fed the Dark Lord".)

Having said all that, they were seriously pressed when they got to the OF. Chymon was tough (and I had Naquent bring Chymon back as a zombie, too!) and the Air Door was tough for them as well, partly because the rogue succumbed to the magical effect in the clone storage room.
