They just get a bonus feat and can take the option of getting one right? Psicrystals are in the psion section but I can't find any mention of psions getting them automatically. Stressmnky

Posts: 55 (07/15/08 11:58:49) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	You are correct they do not get them automatically and must take a feat, however unlike with a familiar all your levels from a psionic class count towards determining its abilities, So a Psion5/Mindbender1(psionic varriant)/Thrallherd10's psicrystal would have the abilities of a 16th level psion,

It is a section of a manifestors conscious mind, flavor text I know. Similar penalties for losing a familiar? Does it just fade away? Stressmnky

There's no penalty, though I forget how (and if) you make a new one. _______________________ bored with changing signatures

HOWEVER, being that psicrystals are so closely related to familiars and that 3.0 psicrystals would cause the same problems if lost. Its safe to treat them as familiars for that purpose. Its not exactly fair to have the psions feat become useless if the crystal is destroyed and its not exactly fair to have the psion be able to lose his crystal again and again with out penalty. Psicrystals are kinda funny, unlike familiars they actually gain hit dice and not virtual hit dice. This has the side effect of making there base saves higher. (which isn't relevant as it can't be any better then the master). They also have a base attack bonus of 2/3 there hit dice often beyond that of the master mind. Which isn't all that good when you consider the strength of 1 and inability to take weapon finesse so they aren't good for delivering touch powers. Personally I just stick my psicrystal in my pocket and it only comes out for solicit psicrystal and to keep watch at night.
