I'm pretty sure the best thing is to do what WotC suggested a while ago -- just take the image of your character, and then use the new rules to just build
that character again (as best as you can.) If you also include the ability to swap out various abilities for other ones (such as it is done in the examples
WotC gives when talking about how to do stuff like make a Monk in 4E), then you'll get even closer to your image of the character.
