My players were faced with trying to convince their owner (it's slave campaign) to let them pursue a goal in a certain direction. Namely, seek out a relic
of a shield. The punch line is that they already have this shield, and they want to get out from under their owner for a while. So, they want to spread
rumors in the city they're in, and also make sure that it's not THEM spotted spreading the rumors.
How would you handle PCs spreading rumors and other such disinformation actions, while trying not to get caught?
One player described the physical process as going to certain eating houses and the like, and using some form of subterfuge to speak out loud such that nearby booths and tables would hear him as some sort of unintentional eavesdropping thing, while not seeing him at all (and he's playing a Petal, which is a Tiny creature).
