Why are so many creatures with SLAs created in the Monster Manual with no Concentration skill?
They turn out to be fairly (if not ridiculously) easy to overcome since triggers or attacks of opportunity can stop these SLAs from firing off on the party. The Undead are the worst of the lot, since they have no Con ability score at all, hence their Concentration check is a straight d20 roll.
I've been looking through creatures now before I set them out in my encounters, and I've been reworking things like this since they're just meat on the table for an adventuring party.
I can't imagine I'm playing such creatures that badly. They just get surrounded by the party and wiped out in an average of 4 rounds. Their SLAs rarely do them any good since they provoke attacks of opportunity or are just triggered on. So it's become very difficult to run an encounter of a single creature of even fairly high CR in comparison to the party.
