[RQ] Power attack mastery 4 and 2-handed weapon

Using a weapon 2-handed with power attack allows a PC to deal double the penalty. I get that. Now, does that stack with Power attack mastery 4? I mean that if I took a -5 penalty to my attack with a Greatsword, I would deal power attack damage of +25? By the way it's worded in the rulebook it seams it would stack... Thanks in advance.

It's meant to replace the base multipliers with new, slightly higher ones. As well, even if it did stack, it wouldn't go up to x5. Standard D&D multiplication rules always apply unless specifically stated otherwise, so combining a x2 with a x2.5 gives you a x3.5. No worries. If you have Power Attack 4 and take a -5 to your attacks then you get (2.5 * 5) 12.5, or 12 due to rounding, bonus damage. I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that Power Attack 1 and 4 stack, but they don't. PA 4 replaces the normal benefits of PA 1 with higher benefits, making the mastery even more appealing than it already is. So, nothing to worry about. If I so felt like it, I could allow players to be a 1st level Fighter with 10 feats, 3000 hit points, TWF with 20 foot long Greatswords that have a reach and threatened area of 4 squares in every direction. -- igavskoga I often come across as a jerk. I just figured he was right because there being no wording stating that is simply replaced the existing Power attack rules. Thanks for the clarification.

Just remember, not saying a feat does something doesn't make it do that thing. Just because Two weapon fighting doesn't say you can flay your arms and gain a fly speed of 60 feet doesn't mean it grants that benefit, even if your players really want it to. Good lord, there's no end to what players try to get away with. A little sense is all it takes to realize some things just shouldn't be, and won't be in your games, even if that's how they were designed to work; you seem to have it and the will to use it, so good on you.
