Re: Dread Wraith vs. Death Ward  (reply)
(This is in regards to 3rd or 3.5 d&d) I realize the question I'm about to ask isn't exactly related to the topic, but since we're on the subject of negative energy, I was wondering if it is indeed at all possible to convert one type...

Re: Dread Wraith vs. Death Ward  (reply)
You have made some sound arguments, were this a debate winnable upon the merit of your facts, i would concede now. However as it's been long enough since I've played 3e, and it's simply too much information to process a satisfactory...

Re: Dread Wraith vs. Death Ward  (reply)
I understand the 'feeling' you have.  I feel it too, and it's what one player wishes to base his argument on, claiming it's "common sense".  I prefer to think that I'm the one using more common sense by actually reasoning...

Re: Dread Wraith vs. Death Ward  (reply)
Sorry for lack of specificity. I feel that it should certainly block the Con loss (as that is an effect (Death Ward) acting as intended IMO). It should probably block the damage too, especially as a touch attack. Typo or...

Re: Dread Wraith vs. Death Ward  (reply)
You feel it should what?  Block all damage and Con Drain despite neither being a negative energy effect?  Or are you saying it's a typo that hasn't been fixed?

Dread Wraith vs. Death Ward  (topic)
The Dread Wraith's (MM pg 258) Incorporeal touch attack deals 2d6 damage plus 1d8 Constitution drain (Fort save DC 25 to negate.)  On a drain the Dread Wraith gains 5 hit points.  A player claims this is a negative energy...

Hmmm. (reply)
I personally thought it worked the way you've described. The text from the example seems to contradict itself - Cloudkill would actually be 4 rounds away in that example. As a DM, I'd enforce a solid cooldown that starts on the caster's...

Re: Alchemical Silver  (reply)
Actually, he's right. There are two processes by which a weapon becomes silvered. 1) Silversheen. it's in the DMG, rub it on and your weapon is considered alchemically silvered for 1 hour for purposes of DR. 2) you take it to an...
