Here is my premise. Let me know if you see any pit falls, as I have been too close to pick it apart with any real effect.
In my campaign world Lolth is not a god (yet) but a demoness. The Drow elves are but modest clans in the underdark and for whatever reason have never risen to prominence or power. Disgusted, Lolth set out to attain godhood by lifting the Drow up and conquering the underdark and thus fueling a divine faith in her might. So, she picks the most promising Drow from each of 5 clans (I have 5 players) and brings them to her in a meeting. She tells them her plan.
She is going to infuse each of them with a portion of her demonic power so they can rise up, kill the leaders of each of their clans, bring the clans under one banner, gather a slave workforce and army and use it to crush their neighbors, and establish themselves as the ruling dominant race of the under dark.
To ensure that they work together for her cause, she is tying each one of their souls together so if any one of them dies they are immediately revivified but all 5 of them lose a level permanently. If they keep letting each other die then they reach 0th level, die permanently and she will pick 5 new (better) candidates.
The dominant ruling races are: the Duergar, the Illithids and the Beholders.
The slave races are most likely Orc, Goblin and such.
Each character will be Gestalt and built by the players but as far as the characters know these abilities are not trained they are bestowed on them by Lolth.
Any thoughts about a CE game?
Thanks
Jay
