Now, that's not terrible, but every year I try to get a hotel adjacent to the con and every year I get pushed out a little further. Still, it's not as bad as the last year in Milwaukee, when I was 18 miles away... Dagnabit! Consarnit! I want rampant nerddom without effort! No, wait...

So I guess I'll have to find someone to room with or I might as well use Expedia to find a room, it seems to be a lot cheaper anyway.

I prefer to book a room outside of the convention. It costs 10%-20% more, but it's less hassle. In January, I checked for the Westin where I stayed in 2007. Instead of my usual 200$/night rate, it was 350$/night. Ouch!! So today I checked again. Their airfare is 200$, and the Embassy has rooms at 125$/night. That makes it a sweet deal. Is the Embassy that far away?

Tell me how... Best I can get right now is the Marriott for $250 per night, but it sleeps 3. The Hyatt (downtown) is 100% booked btw.

I think it works out to $408 US each person for the entire convention. When I booked last night, there were no cheaper places downtown if you wanted to be in walking distance. I'll be hitting Gencon really hard so I'll be gone by 7:30am and I'll be trying to sleep by 1am. I'm arriving EARLY on Wednesday and will be getting my room ASAP. The room is until Sunday since I'm leaving Sunday. I'd like to get 100% of the room cost up front on Wed. The room might be able to fit more than 3 people (room is huge), but any extras would have to sleep on the floor on a inflatable mattress or sleeping bag or something. If cost is a problem I would consider getting more people. If this sounds good to you, let me know, I'll give you the final bill, my email, and if everything is good I'll have one less spot to fill. I'm guessing from your post that the room costs $1224 for 4 nights. Is that exact? I don't care much about how many people share the room, but I do want a full bed to myself. The Conrad has rooms. It's closer and cheaper (I found a website with rooms around 200$/night), but it does not have a kitchen area. Is there a supermarket where I could buy some grocery items?

Which website are you using? Yeah, I specifically got the Mariott because of the full kitchen and fridge. There are groceries around for sure and I'll have lots of time on Wednesday to look. The room was $1316 exactly Candadian for 4 nights. Like I said, I took it because it's a big room (fits 3 well) and has a full kitchen but maybe I made a mistake. When you say the Conrad is $200 per night, does that include tax and service? Because the Mariott was $250 before tax and service and then the tax and service added another $50 per night. If you can find a better deal that makes sense, maybe I'll cancel the Marriot, but I'll have to think about it since I have dietery restrictions and need a fridge or at least a minibar.
