Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None Ok, since the massive adamantine plated warforged fighter NPC went down in an epic battle with some demons, I have a question. Can warforged be made into undead? I would assume this to be yes, since they can be rezzed, but I really wasn't finding anything definative on it. Second, if they can be turned into undead, what would a good one be? He was a level 6 fighter to begin with. I'm wondering about a mummy-warforged? That would make him a CR 11 to run into down the line. I dunno. So, I'm looking for ideas. This will be the 2nd NPC killed that will return as an undead to fight the party at some point. The first one got cursed and turned into a bodak. The party will be meeting him again soon. -8 modifier to crunch-fu

If you need a lower CR ghost, check the Savage Progressions articles on the Wizard's website. The revenant template would also work. I know it's in City of the Spider Queen, but it might be in another book or two as well. If he doesn't need to be intelligent, he could be a zombie or skeleton. The bloodstained template is also pretty neat to add to an already-created undead (it's on the Wizard's website as well). Make the world a better place; slap someone who needs it.

And, thanks, but I don't need the ruling. I can track it down. The only issue I run into with a skeleton is he'll only have 1HD. That wouldn't work. He's not really angry, he was just left in the dungeon as the party was too weakened to carry his corpse out. Since the dungeon is home to a bunch of crazy mindflayers, chaositech surgeons and other bad guys, I think they would find it fitting to raise him. So, a ghost, not so much, the bad guys would want him for the same reason the party did, a big meat shield. Er, metal shield. Remember's something called a spell-gorged zombie from one of the ToH books. The revenant thingy could be cool too. The revenant was cool, but not exactly what I was looking for. So, I went with the Juju Zombie from the Tome of Horrors. It means he'll be a CR 7 Juju Zombie. A nice zombie to accompany the "vampire" the party is going to run into.... muahaha! Thanks guys for the ideas. -8 modifier to crunch-fu

I see you've made him up already, but you hadn't mentioned mindflayers or surgeons. Why make him undead? Make him a half-golem (MM II, maybe it's web enhancement) and give him some mindflayer grafts (Fiend Folio, I think). Far more interesting than undead and gives him a "Frankenstein" vibe. Make the world a better place; slap someone who needs it.

Well, I had figured on undead since that would be simplest....but...I will look into those options as well. There are already lots of grafts from Magic of Eberron and the ECS (I think) as well as Chaositech I could use. That's a much better idea. Also, if I don't make him a bad guy pawn...the revenant was really cool. The idea of him as an avenging spirit returning at a climactic battle to aid the party is kinda cool too. Then he fades away peacefully having killed those who killed him. Well, the ones directly responsible are already dead...but I can take a broad view of things. -8 modifier to crunch-fu

Trust me, players love bad guys who keep coming back as long as there's a good reason for it. Soon they'll be clamoring for him to come back over and over again . . . Make the world a better place; slap someone who needs it.

He kicked my party's butt. Well, to be fair, he would have been tough enough, but, the warblade rushed in and got blasted by the other guy with the distrupter emitter twice taking his HP down a fair amount. Then a really really really good damage roll by the half-golem put the warblade somewhere in the -20 range. It was ugly. And funny in a way. The other fighter (a halfing) is without his best weapon as its being repaired, so he would've been attacking with a +1 kukri. The dual-wand weilding wizard (ANNOYING!) was nasty, but if the halfgolem had gotten close enough to hit him...well, it would be bad. The cleric is tough, but diving headlong into a guy that just cut the warblade in half, not a happy prospect. Fortunately for the party, the wizard had wounded him enough to make him withdraw. So now, the party is going into the tunnels under the artificers shop to track down their old ally to avenge their recently fallen ally. Also, they're going to rescue the new crusader character the warblade's player is rolling up. And, after Damax dies this time...I think Dan C. Davis might be on to something....a final return as some horrific undead would be fun. The look on the guy's face when it dawned on them who the creature was, priceless. -8 modifier to crunch-fu
