AE Battle Box and Counter Collection |
Lead | |
|
Did anyone pick these 2 products up and, if so, what were the opinions on them? I seem to recall some semi-negative comments on one of the Battle Boxes, but
can't remember if that was on the AE or IH one.

I have used the AE one extensively, for the maps, rune counters and especially the condition cards.

Since your use went to the state of extensively I will assume that you used them and liked them a lot

It is a very, very good buy. One thing I think some people may also have found useful is the level progressions. All the classes made as NPCs, lvl 1-25. Just
like in the 3.0 DMG.
Yes, I wrote them, but I still like 'em, dammit |

I would also comment that the battle box is a very good buy. I was just using the level progressions last night for a couple of my NPCs in a Jade Oath game
and the condition cards are always useful.

Right! Forgot about the level progressions. I used them extensively when I had an ongoing AE game. I don't use them so much right now.

Well I went to a FLGS that I haven't been to in months and finally got myself copies of Chaositech, Book of Iron Might and the AE Counter Collection. Not
sure how much of BoIM I'll use but it's neat, and Chaositech I've liked since it first came out, just never picked it up. I do have the pdf thanks
to Ptolus, but not the same as throwing my book in my backpack to cart around w/me
My only complaint on the Counter Collection is that there is no perforation, I'm going to have to cut every single one of these apart. Time to buy a mat and an Exacto knife since my wife offered to do that for me as she has a steadier hand for that kind of thing. Otherwise it looks great. I assume evolved versions of everything are the far right tiles typically? Text on the back of the counter saying what is what would also have been great, but I think that was a complaint I had w/the earliest CC sets that came out too. If you dont' know something by just looking at it yr hosed heh. I'll order that Battle Box soon I'm sure. |

Glad you like it. Make sure to go through the other goodies on the CD. I know I'm immodest, but the Conjure Energy Creature stats might be useful. And (for
something I didn't so), the combat rite and spell template reference sheets just can't be beat.

I bought and use the Battlebox extensively. I mostly use the PDFs, but I've cut and mounted the spell-effect templates onto cardstock and they
occasionally hit the table.
She said it was me she thought about, and she said it wasn't fun anymore.
(PS - My girlfriend is totally awesome. I even have PROOF.) (AND AGAIN!) |

Doing a bit of thread resurrection here to ask this question... I am not an AE player, but I play 3.5. The 3.5 version of Battlebox is impossible to come by,
but I have seen the AE one available. How much of the stuff in the AE version would be useful for 3.5 D&D? I have barely any knowledge of the workings of
AE, so please bear with me if the answer to this is obvious.

The steel die? Definitely. The counters? Yep. The conditions? Yep. One or two might be slightly changed. You would just want to check. The map, nope.

Actually I'm 99% sure the steel die is from the IH Battlebox. The AE one comes with a teeny-weeny red plastic die. Almost as cool, and a little safer for
the furniture. My player who has a spryte character always wants to use the micro die, and I just realized how appropriate that is. (And no, he doesn't
want it so he can cheat!)
