Right off the bat i'm going to admit i'm not all that fluent with Iron Heroes, but i've been given the chance to play a couple and my most recent
attempt is, as stated in the topic, to make an 'Iaijutsu-focused' type of character. I do know that there is an actual Iaijutsu feat tree somewhere but
i'm not sure the DM would allow it so i was focusing mostly on the Sudden Strike tree. Besides that, i'm really at a loss as to what sort of options i
have. I'm not even sure what sort of class, though Executioner or Weapon Master seems like it would be the most obvious. Maybe Man at Arms. My question,
really, is what is everyones thoughts on the matter? Class, feat, focus wise, what would people suggest?

Any of those classes could work for the idea. A lot would depend on what kind of 'flavor' you wanted to the character. Weapon Master has the advantage
of faster access to the feat chain you want. Man at Arms is more flexible. Executioners get good synergy with sudden strike and sneak attack. Myrmidon or
Dedicate also presents opportunities for interesting combinations.
If you're building a character that has a focus on a specific feat chain, then Prodigy is rarely a bad choice for a trait.

My first thought was Executioner, my only worry was feats and how long it would take to get into the feat trees i wanted. But if sneak attack and sudden strike
mesh well (especially if it allows me to more easily GET sneak attack) it could be a good idea
The Iaijutsu tree and sudden strike tree, no reason they wouldn't work together, right? The big thing against the Executioner is that an Iaijutsu style combat character fully intents to stand their ground and strike from the front, while Executioners seem designed to lurk around and attack, then run away again which is why i was considering Weapon Master. I admit i didn't consider Myrmidon or Dedicate. Dedicate seems like an especially good choice. |

A well-built Sudden Strike Dedicate is nasty. One of my players ran one in a game I ran a couple years back, and he was a beast. You have to be careful to keep
yourself alive (mediocre hp and light armor do not the best defenses make) but he could do some nasty tricks that kept fights short enough to live through.

I'm thinking of focusing most on Sudden Strike, naturally, and maybe Improved Critical, Cleave and/or just Weapon Focus, though i'm not sure, if anyone
has feat suggestions i'm open to it. Also, weapons, should i go the classic route with a bastard sword?
Its a level 8 game, do i have some to work with. So far witht he Dedicate i can get to mastery 4 on sudden strike. I threw in Improved Initiative, but besides that i'm not sure really where to focus, now or in the future. What did the beast of a dedicate use that you know of? Its the the second character i've made and the first i've really tried to build to a specific purpose (in iron heroes) so i can use all the help i can get.
